Dr. Vincent Sears

Dr. Vincent Sears is a professor of Counselor Education at Henderson State University. He believes in paideia as a pathway to holistic development through education, counseling, and supervision.

His research complements this by contextualizing education, power, and resistance, moving beyond rigid frameworks to discover profound experiences of teaching, learning, and healing.

He focuses on clarifying the impact of oppression on Black communities and other marginalized groups within educational, healing, and societal arenas. Simultaneously, he Investigates how these communities have creatively utilized education and culture to forge lives of resilience and transcendence.

His emphasis on individual growth through paideia and his focus on the liberatory potential of education and healing offer a comprehensive understanding of knowledge as a tool for empowerment and social change.
